Learning in Monkey Puzzle

Welcome to Monkey Puzzle class, home to our youngest learners: Pre-School and Reception.

Mrs Holder is our class teacher on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. She is also Deputy Head and SENCo.

On a Thursday, Mr Lewis is the class teacher and he takes us to Forest School, with Miss Searle.

Mrs Lane is our wonderful Class TA. We are also joined by Miss Evans and Mrs Littleworth (TAs) one afternoon a week.

Mrs Ralph is our EYFS apprentice and is in class full time.

In Monkey Puzzle class, we like to learn through a play-based curriculum, following the Early Years Foundation Stage. We have lots of ‘Owl Time’ (Own Learning Time), as well as adult led activities. We have an indoor and outdoor classroom filled with lots of inviting areas to explore.

* We go to Forest School every Thursday morning, weather permitting.

* We do PE on a Thursday afternoon with a PE specialist.

* Values Education - We think about values alongside our PSHE lessons and our assemblies, embedding them into our everyday lives. This term our values are;

January- Forgiveness

February- Loyalty

March- Respect

April- Generosity

We cover all areas of learning through exciting topics, but also follow a child-led approach. To see what we are learning across the curriculum this term, see the plans below.

Phonics
We are following the DFE approved ‘Twinkl Phonics’ scheme to learn our sounds and develop a range of reading and writing skills. For more information and resources about Phonics please see the Phonics section on our website.
